FROM THE TIP OF THE HOUNDSTOOTH COMMENTARY: Thanksgiving....a day to express our gratitude for the many blessings we have received. It is both a personal and a collective experience. As a part of Bama Nation, we have been blessed over the decades to enjoy and thrill in the efforts of young men and women who represent our University in competitve athletics, academics, and as citizens moving into the reality of life. Thank you to all who have worn the Crimson and White, to all who coach the student-athletes, directed musical groups, marched in the MDB, led the throng of fans in cheers, sang in the chorus groups, acted in a drama, served as managers, worked in the offices, coached the teams, taught the students, demonstrated creative teaching that inspires young people as they prepare for lifes opportunities. So many I have inadvertently overlooked. As an educator, there was always a group to whom I gave deferential treatment: office staff members and custodians. Without them, my life would have been extremely difficult. Thank you for your unheralded job but done with passion for an institution you take pride in serving. As fans, we sometimes get angry and upset when a play is incomplete. We need to lift all the students up with encouraging support and be grateful they all chose to be part of one of the greatest educational institutions in the nation...the Capstone of Higher Education---The University of Alabama. Thank you, and ROLL TIDE! (Rebecca K. Wetzel, Class of 1971)
