FROM haunted houses to...: FROM haunted houses to century-old cemeteries, no place is too spooky for Rockingham’s own dedicated paranormal research team. The Paranormal Activity Research Australia (P.A.R.A) group formed five months ago and has investigated some of the region’s reportedly most haunted sites, including Sloan’s Cottage, East Rockingham Pioneer Cemetery and Point Peron. Group founder and lead investigator Bev Bunce said the group examined sites across the Perth metropolitan area but there were many unusual happenings at local hot spots too. “I love what we do and love helping others when things go bump in the night,” she said. Mrs Bunce said the group held free private investigations and ran public investigations to show interested people how they used high-tech equipment like cameras and voice recorders to capture ghostly apparitions and electronic voice phenomena. Recently, the group investigated a private house in Baldivis and found evidence of a haunting. “We heard voices on the recordings and took photos of orbs,” she said. The group has several photos they believe are ghostly figures, including a woman dressed in older-style clothing at Point Peron and another figure at the Kalamunda Hotel. Mrs Bunce admitted even the most seasoned investigators like herself often entered some sites with trepidation. “You have to have fear, otherwise you are being stupid,” she said. “At one location, we heard footsteps; thinking it was security. We looked up and saw someone walking towards us. “The person then completely disappeared.” For Mrs Bunce, it was an incident while at a friend’s graveside that sparked her interest in the paranormal. “We all do it for our own reasons,” she said. “I was sitting by the grave, asking for some kind of sign and at that moment a white butterfly landed on the headstone; from then I realised there was some kind of life after death.” For more information about the group, search P.A.R.A-Paranormal Activity Research Australia on Facebook. dlvr.it/44czJv #NEWSANDVIEWSLocalNews (inMyCommunity) #perth #perthnews
