FULLERTON WELCOMES ORANGE COUNTY’S ONLY ALL 80’s DINING AND NIGHTLIFE DESTINATION – DELOREAN INCLUDED. Danny [Sanchez] doesn’t jut put on an 80’s theme night as so many clubs try and do. Danny’s clubs are an immersion in everything that is the 80’s. When you walk into one of Danny’s locations, it’s as if you stepped out of the Delorean and into the middle of everyone’s favorite decade.” – Richard Blade In what has been a whirlwind three years for high school friends turned business partners, Danny Sanchez and Dave Esqueda, have transformed a pop culture passion into a proven nightlife concept. Celebrating the opening of their newest location. Totally 80’s Bar & Grille in Fullerton is the destination in the county of it’s kind. Functioning as moving, working monument to a decade that revolutionized everything from music, fashion, and technology, this is far from the clichéd costume party. Establishing one of Los Angeles’s longest running 80’s new wave clubs, Sanchez pioneered Addiction, a weekly happening at a small dive in Downey called the Hully Gully. Devoted to everything from the New Romantic movement to Dark Wave, the unassuming bar struck a chord among generations old and new as the place to get a proper fix of everything from The Smiths, Depeche Mode, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. In it’s decade plus tenure, the name became synonymous with Southern California’s unwavering allegiance to all things 80’s. The natural order of progression meant for Sanchez, having a place to call his own. In 2010, Sanchez launched The New Wave Bar in the LA suburb of Bellflower. Due in large part to the years of hard work in cultivating a fervent following with Addiction, The New Wave immediately became a credible hub for fanatics of the era. The location even earned top honors as ‘Best 80s Bar’ in the LA Weekly just last year. 2012 marked location two, as That 80’s Bar broke ground in Montclair. Servicing the greater Inland Empire, the strictly nightclub environment resonated with a community that finally had an option when it came to enjoying the sounds of the 80’s. Between the two locations, performances from the likes of A Flock of Seagulls, Naked Eyes, Berlin, Missing Persons, Book of Love, When In Rome, and a slew of others fortified both Sanchez and Esqueda brand with the kind of authenticity that paid homage to the era rather than indulging in the cheese. Born and bred Orange County natives however, both Sanchez and Esqueda continued to pine after a location close to home. The rapid success of both New Wave Bar and That 80’s Bar ensured the dream would become a reality much faster than either could anticipate. Saturday September 13th, the team will officially open the doors to the Totally 80’s Bar & Grille of Fullerton. Anchoring a revitalization of North Orange County, the 80’s Bar & Grille combines the jubilant nightlife of the era, with a modernized take in the kitchen. Enlisting the help of Chef Robert Marenco, locally sourced ingredients from sustainable outlets are the foundation of menu that manages to deliver eclectic flare to comfort food classics. Burgers, steaks, salads, and sandwiches are all prepared with the kind of creativity consistent with the kind of trendsetting that made the 80’s as endearing as it is influential. As Master of Ceremonies and Official ambassador of all things 80’s, iconic radio personality and music historian Richard Blade will preside over this weekend’s festivities. A earnest celebration of a decade that continues permeate within current pop culture, Totally 80’s Bar & Grille completes the trifecta for Sanchez and Esqueda and fulfills a lifelong dream – opening up shop close to home with great music, great food, and great people. @Totally 80s Bar & Grille - 2512 W.
