FYI, the next REEF Fish & Friends seminar is tomorrow night: Chew on This: Oral Anatomy & Physiology of the Fish World Keri Kenning REEF 2013 Biologist, REEF Volunteer, and Level 5 Expert Fish Surveyor Fish mouths are much more than a set of teeth and a pair of jaws used for eating. Lacking paws, claws, or opposable thumbs, fish must use their mouths for a variety of tasks, including seizing food, luring prey, excavating burrows, tending to nests, and accommodating young fry. Come join Keri, a fish fanatic and future dentist, for an examination of a central tenet of anatomy and physiology – “form fits function” – and learn how the oral structures of fish are telling indicators of behavior and lifestyle.
