Face Book Friends and Family.......I have been missing in action for 12 days. Many thanks to those who knew what was going on for the prayers and offers of help, for those that didnt its probably time to come clean. DEs blood pressure dropped to a dangerously low level and I called 911, the medics got him to the ER and he coded.......and was resuscitated. Thank God! His scans showed severe abdominal bleeding and they rushed him to the big house in Tulsa for emergency surgery. The bleeding was coming from a HUGE 13 cm. pseudocyst. The surgeon drained 2 1/2 liters of blood from the abdominal cavity and another liter from the cyst itself. Most of you know weve been dealing with something for the last year. When the medic asked which hospital to take him to I said St. John. That was probably the single most important decision Ive ever made, but after a year of failed diagnoses at the other hospital I made a very lucky snap judgement. The care and treatment given to DE and I in the St. John healthcare system was beyond fabulous and extremely compassionate and I thank each and every person that had a hand in saving my dear husbands life and stopping the bleeding . I am definitely not the same person that went into the storm, this kind of situation changes that. Folks, this started a year ago with a poorly made diagnosis of Diabetes and prescriptions for two medications with extensive life-altering side effects and no counseling or advice to change diet. The two good things that came from this trip was more thorough testing that determined DE is NOT diabetic and the fact that after the first attack we tossed the meds and went on a diet and lost a combined 120#! Cleaning up the diet and living a healthier lifestyle probably played a big part in how well he is recovering from this ordeal. Although were not out of the woods yet hes home and reasonably comfortable. I urge all of you to research the side effects of any medication that is prescribed and not be afraid to question your doctors. If something doesnt smell right or sound right it probably isnt.
