Every day, in every country, there is someone who comes up with a new way to rob you. And they get away with it because stupid and gullible people believe their wild and ridiculous claims. They get away with it because the operators prey on the people who can least afford to lose money - the poor and the un-educated. . How can you spot a SCAM? 1. Ask the person offering the plan to give his / her full identity details - full name, full address and contact details like phone, fax, email and internet details. 2. Ask that person to give you proof of their own success in the business or investment opportunity. Presumably they would be happy to share this with you because they would have earned a lot of money themselves. 3. Ask the person to give you some contact details of other people, clients of the organiisation, especially those who live in your area, who have achieved the spectacular results promised by the organisation. 4. Ask the organisation for details of their Accountants, their certified copies of tax or GST / VAT returns to verify their claims. If you cant get these four easy verifications please dont part with any of your money. In most cases the only ones who make money from these schemes are the ones who run them. Common SCAM Characteristics 1. Unrealistic claims about how much you can earn. Remember, the money you supposedly going to get has to come from somewhere - the sale of a product or the provision of a service. 2. The use of Self Help books from well known authors to try and suggest that these authors and books are promoting their scheme. Self Help books are great and I have read them all. But you can get them yourself without having to join a scheme to get them. 3. They hide their Facebook comments where the comments seek to ask the questions mentioned above. They avoid scruting by hiding the comments rathe than answering them honestly and openly. 4. They use EMOTION and PASSION to lure you rather than presenting facts and data. You see wild claims which are all froth and no beer. 5. They are often Pyramid schemes, those which you pay a membership or joining fee in order to receive commissions from other suckers you can convince to join the scheme. (Thats why they end up with all of their family and friends avoiding them - they are forever badgering to join their scheme in order to receive a commission from your action). These pyryamid schemes DO reach a saturation point because once a large enough number of gullible suckers join them, there are fewer left to get your teeth into. The later you join, the fewer people left for you to get in. 6. These organisations usually dont have any fixed address. They operate out of the back room of some dark and murky condemned building, ready to make a fast escape when the authorities look like closing in on them. Lets enjoy the year and lets plan it so as to try and make it extra special.
