Facebook, more and more, is becoming a place where I see a lot of anger and a lot of names. but feel less and less connected to people in any real way. As the year has gone by Ive seen people more willing to post about miseries than get off their asses and hang out with friends. Im not sure if thats a societal shift towards antisocial behavior or if facebook enables a kind of more contacts, less friends way of relating to others. One thing I have learned is that putting up events on facebook is tantamount to saying, Heres something cool Im doing, just thought I would let you all know so you can say youre coming but wind up sitting on your couch instead. Ive been guilty of it, not saying Im blameless. I use this site to promote my work and increasingly Im finding thats all I use it for anymore. Next time I plan an event Im going to call people, personally. Expect me to start asking some of you for phone numbers, and the next time someone invites me to something Im going to swallow my pride and start asking for rides. In summary, life is too damned short to sit on a social website and feel all alone in a see of other people, many of whom are saying the same thing. ---End rant.
