Facebook seems to be a very powerful information tool so I have decided to use it for somethign AWESOME! If you are a meber of a herp society please bring this to the attention of you leaders. This is what we are about, people. Lets help :-) I have emailed but havent seen any response. So lets see what the power of the people can do. Dear Herpetological Society, Herpetologists Marty Crump, Danté Fenolio, Bill Lamar, and Jim Stout have signed a book contract with the University of Chicago Press to produce a book that details "cultural interactions between humans and amphibians and reptiles, the biology behind those folklore beliefs, and the possible conservation consequences of those beliefs." We envision this book to be of interest to anyone interested in amphibians and reptiles, including and especially members of herpetological societies. The format for the book, as it stands now, is limited to black and white illustrations. The Press has said that if we provide a subsidy of at least $10,000, it will include color throughout the book. The four authors are therefore contacting herpetological societies to partner with us to raise funds for color illustrations and photographs. At the front of the book we will acknowledge all societies and individuals who have contributed. We will include the logos for societies who contribute at least $500. The University of Chicago Press will provide a 30% book discount for members of societies who contribute $500-$999 and a 40% book discount for members of societies who contribute at least $1000. Might your society be interested in joining us in this endeavor? Thank you very much for your consideration. If interested, please respond to Danté Fenolio.
