Facebooks motto used to be Move fast and break things. Theyve matured as a company, and now their (admittedly less-catchy) motto is Move fast with stable infrastructure. But making sure things are stable and robust still means breaking things -- and thats where we come in. Stress-testing technology is a key part of building a technology ecosystem that works for its users, and many of todays tech giants take for granted that users are on fast connections and current-generation devices. Thats not the case for much of the developing world. We cant bridge the digital divide without ensuring that the technology we develop works with the infrastructure people have available today. As part of the Internet.org Innovation Lab, weve developed a special SIM card that allows developers to test their apps and services on a simulated 2.5G network, similar to whats available in much of the developing world.
