Faces on Skates So see the wheels? One goal of mine is to change the relationship between the viewer and the art. Viewers are invited to stroll amongst these faces and to physically move, reorder and relocate them within the gallery. You all probably know that once I stop working on the portraits, creative interpretation passes to you the viewer and now with the faces on skates you also have the capacity to make changes to the exhibit. I use iridescent paints that change with lighting and point of view causing shifting patterns of light. Physically moving the paintings changes the lighting conditions. Expressions may slightly change and there seems to be a sense of time passing. I think that witnessing these small changes might make these images appear more real – more like we actually perceive our surroundings. Beyond simply having fun, I hope viewers see how changing the order and location of these portraits also changes the viewer’s perception as the portraits interact differently with each other.
