Fair officials today announced the results of the 2014 “Graceful Giving – a Fair way to end Hunger” program with the presentation of a check for $41,976 to Steve Baker, Executive Director of Grace Resource Center. The final amount was collectively raised through the sales of AV Fair Pre-Fair admissions tickets, normally priced at $10.00, for a pre-sale price of $6.00. One dollar of every pre-Fair ticket sold was held in reserve to be given to the Grace Resource Center to help them in their mission to eliminate hunger and empower those in need through training, education, clothing, shelter and medical care. The 2014 Graceful Giving program began on July 25, with the sales of the tickets at select Antelope Valley grocery outlets, including Albertsons, Vallarta and Vons supermarkets. Additionally, tickets were sold at other locations including: Antelope Valley College, Edwards Federal Credit Union, George’s Cleaners, Grace Resource Center and the A.V. Fairgrounds Admin. office. Tickets were also sold at the AV Fair cart at the Antelope Valley Mall. On-line sales of the Pre-Fair admission tickets were not part of the program. Other local companies supported the program thru purchases of tickets in bulk for their employees and clients. These companies included: Antelope Valley Harley Davidson, Calandri/Sonrise Farms, Cullen Insurance Agency, Greater Antelope Valley Association of REALTORS®, Halley-Olsen-Murphy Funerals & Cremation, H.W. Hunter, Hunter FIAT, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Morgan Stanley - Nadia Dickinson, Palmdale Auto Mall, Rally Kia, Rio Tinto Minerals, Southern California Edison, Sygma and Vision Engineering. Through the combined efforts of businesses and individuals throughout the Antelope Valley, we were able to raise almost $42,000.00 that will positively impact the lives of some of the least fortunate citizens of the Antelope Valley. It is truly a blessing when we can all come together to help those who are most in need. To our Graceful Giving family, thank you once more for working with the Fair to help Grace Resource Center end hunger in the Antelope Valley.
