Faith, Gotta Have It: Got To Be In The Blood “When He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two door posts, the Lord will pass over the door.” Exodus 12:23 Exo 12:1-3, 21-28; Heb 11:28 Let me hang d key 2 2day’s study right here at d front door: d conflict of faith means choosing d provisions of God over d provisions of this world. U are probably familiar wit d term Passover. It was d tenth & final plague God inflicted on Egypt through Moses, sending His death angel 2 kill d 1st born in every Egyptian household. Bt God said, “Israel, wen I come over 2 kill Egypt, I don’t want 2 kill ur first born. So I want u 2 kill a lamb & put it’s blood on ur doorpost & wen I see d blood, I will pass over u. I won’t judge u. Only d 1st born of those who don’t have d blood will die. Nw wat did it take 4 d average Israelite 2 survive dat awful night? Faith. Dat’s all just believing wat God said & accepting His provision. Notice God didn’t pass over these people bcos of their gud works. His death angel wasn’t luking 4 people who were hard-working, honest, nice 2 neighbours, faithful at synagogue. He was luking 4 blood. None of dat other stuff mattered. Dat’s d only way 2 get 2 heaven. Wen God sees d blood, His wrath passes over u. D blood of Jesus Christ, shed on d cross 4 u & me, is d only thing dat satisfies God. D Egyptians were in trouble on d Passover bcos they had no God & no blood. Nw here’s were d conflict of faith comes in. Suppose a Jewish person says, “I want 2 b like d Egyptians. I don’t want 2 smear blood on my door. Wat if they come after every1 tomorrow who put up d blood? I trust in d power of d Egyptian empire 2 keep me safe 2night.” Any Jew who did dat wld have been subject 2 d same judgment as d Egyptians. Are u counting on ur gud works,reputation,standing, own provisions, 2 get 2 heaven? Den u’d better face up 2 d conflict of faith & accept God’s provision!
