Faith is anchored on who God is. If you have a wrong concept of God, it is impossible for you to walk by faith. Your actions reveal what is in your heart. Your behavior will follow your belief. If you don’t know Him, you will not trust Him, you will not obey Him. Know God by reading the Bible. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). The young Joseph had dreams that he enthusiastically shared with his brothers and his father (Genesis 37:6-10). But instead of being delighted with him and encouraging him about God’s possible plan for him, his brothers became jealous and hated him even more. In every page of Joseph’s life, the invisible hand of God could evidently be seen at work. For example, it was not an accident that a man found him and directed him to find his brothers and that Reuben suggested throwing him into a pit instead of killing him (Genesis 37:15-23). Many times, you want to get out of the pit. But God’s plan is for you to be in the pit. Go to Him in prayer and you will encounter God and thank Him for this pit stop in your life. Don’t give up and conclude that God is unfair, unloving, or has deserted you. He has the rest of your life still ahead for you (Philippians 4:4-7). Know that God is bigger than your past. God is bigger than your present. God is bigger than your enemies. You cannot and will not experience God’s faithfulness in your life if you walk by sight and don’t learn to walk by faith.
