Faithfulness-(fruit of the spirit) But the fruit of the Spirit - TopicsExpress

Faithfulness-(fruit of the spirit) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23 ESV) My Message Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. (Psalm 150:1-2 NIV) We are still on our series, the fruit of the spirit and today, we are looking at the seventh fruit and that is faithfulness. Beloved, you might be asking what does faithfulness in this sense mean or how is it a fruit of the Spirit. I will start off by saying that faithfulness can be explained in two different ways. The first way to explain faithfulness is God’s unchanging nature and that is why we say God is faithful. It further refers to the firmness, constancy, honesty and surety of God’s dependability because He is an unchanging God and as believers, we can forever trust Him. The second definition however has to do with man’s faithfulness and how we ought to put our trust in Him. Therefore the second definition of faithfulness refers to our firm loyalty to God as believers and our trust in Him. As the saying goes, “A faithful man is full of faith”, therefore a man who is faithful believes in the truth of God as seen in Scripture and has faith in Him. Therefore faithfulness is a fruit of the Spirit and it is the result of the Spirit working in us. Therefore if we are to be full of this fruit called faithfulness, we must believe God, and we must trust that He always has our welfare at heart. This helps us live our lives with the assurance that we will receive Gods promised blessings. Beloved, being faithful to God is necessary when His promises seem to be the completely opposite of what we want or desire. When Gods ways are hidden from us, when evil strikes, when hardships come our way one right after another, that is when we need the Holy Spirit to produce His fruit of faithfulness in us. In Hebrews 11, a tall list of people in the Old Testament can be seen. These people strongly believed in God’s promises. Abraham and Sarah were able to witness the birth of Isaac, Abels understanding of God made his sacrifice real and authentic, Noah trusted Gods word about the coming judgment as well as Gods promise to save his family, Rahab trusted God to protect her family when the Israelites, Moses trusted God that his service would bring Israel to the Promised Land, and the list goes on and on. Through all of these, one thing stands out and that is obedience to God. Faithfulness leads to obedience, and obedience brings about God’s great blessings. Proverbs 28:20 tells us that a faithful man will be richly blessed. However, we must understand and realise that being faithful is not always easy. Many obstacles might come away but we need to be full of faith by standing firm on the Word of God and declaring our freedom. Beloved, God is faithful, and He desires to bless His children with this gift. The Holy Spirit produces in us His faithfulness and as a result, we believe God for Who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. Brethren, it is my prayer that we all live according to the faith Gods Spirit grows within us every day, thereby exhibiting the faithfulness He desires.
