False Teachers Gaining Ground In Todays Churches Like our Facebook Page ChristiaNet, a large Christian portal with eight million monthly page loads, recently asked, Are false teachers infiltrating the church today? ChristiaNet President, Bill Cooper, stated, An overwhelming number of Christians assert that false teachers have made significant inroads in the church with unbiblical doctrine. Out of nearly 1,300 Christians surveyed, 88% believe that the church is being swayed by those who promote a worldly belief system contrary to sound Biblical teaching. One poll taker responded, Most of them dont even realize they are false and think they are doing Gods work, pushing the peace and prosperity message and Christian psychology, instead of repentance and walking in the Spirit. Another respondent felt that a possible cause for the prevalence of false teachers is a lack of true faith. Christians do not take their faith seriously. Their Biblical foundation of the Christian faith is quite shallow, weak, generalized, and not grounded in the study of Scriptures. They continued, Infiltrators are familiar with believers weaknesses, and can easily promote a distorted theology, such as a materialistic and secular hope, or use emotion to elicit a faith response. Eight percent of survey takers were unsure about whether or not false teachers are infiltrating and negatively influencing todays believers. One polltaker stated, I am not sure, but there have been a few things going on that a lot of us do not understand and do not agree with. It is not only confusing, but we dont know if we are to believe it or not. God help us! Only four percent of poll takers felt strongly that the church is not being infiltrated by false teachers; as one survey taker said, There may be a few false teachers today; but it seems like with every new move of God, there are going to be those who will say it is demonic because it is somewhat different. Frankly, I welcome new moves of God. Another in this category responded, I do believe that what many call a false teacher is not what a false teacher actually is. Many say a person is a false teacher if he or she teaches something they dont agree with.
