Position Posting July 29, 2013 Mid Level Provider – Either a FNP or a PA - Full Time Cherokee County Health Department (CCHD) Andrews Combined Health Department and School Based Health Center Andrews, North Carolina Position available: Immediately. Starting Salary: $52,335 - $70,000. Work schedule – 8 to 5 M-F, Normal work week: 40 hours. School Holidays and summers may result in being reassigned to other Health Department Clinics for those periods of time. Cherokee County is located in extreme southwest North Carolina bordered by Tennessee to the west and Georgia to the South. Located in the mountains, there are an abundance of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, rafting and kayaking. The Ocoee River in Tennessee where the 1996 summer Olympic Kayaking events were held is less than an hour away. Major shopping and entertainment can be found within a 2 hour drive to places like Atlanta, Chattanooga and Asheville. Cherokee County has a year round population of around 27,000 with more in the summer months as there are vacationers and retirees with second homes in the county. We are looking for a dedicated, hard working individual to help us with our many clinic patients. The successful candidate will provide care, treatment and education to clients/patients seeking Sports and Commercial Drivers License Physicals, sick visits, immunizations and will provide preventative services such as Family Planning, Prenatal, Women’s Health, Breast and Cervical Cancer Control and Prevention, Communicable Disease, etc. Specific Responsibilities: Carry out Public Health programs as directed by state agreements and regulations and the CCHD Medical Director, CCHD Health Director and Clinical Manager. Ensure that any grant activities meet the requirements of the grant. Serve as a member of the QA committee to improve quality and the documentation of quality care. Analyze statistical data to provide input on programs and services. Collaborate with other providers in the region to improve and promote services. Perform exams, assessment, testing, treatment or referral. When writing prescriptions be aware of drug seeking behavior and report any suspicious activity. Adhere to County and Agency policies, procedures and standing orders. Attend required trainings and maintain CEU’s as needed. Supervise other staff in Andrews with assistance of staff from the main facility in Murphy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Through knowledge of techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking, principles and practices of general medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work. Considerable knowledge and ability to plan a regime of care based on assessment findings. Minimum Training and Experience: Graduation from a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program or Physicians Assistant (PA) program and must be able to obtain the proper licenses / certifications in NC prior to employment.
