Family and Friends, and all those whom I love, Thank you for all your incredible support. I am FILLED with gratitude for your emails of encouragement and for your uplifting experiences and the updates of things that are going on in your lives. I love you all so dearly, and this thanksgiving season am grateful for your positive impact and influence on my life. Thank you. Briefly, I will share with you a few funny moments and a few powerful miracles that we have seen this week in the 9th ward. I am honored to serve here, and my love for the people just keeps growing and growing. This week, we had the opportunity to go on exchanges with some of the best Elders in the mission. I learned a lot from them as we urgently moved from house to house, appointment to appointment, striving to bless the lives of these amazing people with the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. We saw some amazing miracles along the way. Every night we set goals of what we want to accomplish the next day, and with Elder Cabas, we set a goal to teach 5 people before 5PM. It was a fun goal, but the Lord answered our prayers and showed us a miracle - we were able to find some incredible people who were ready to hear this glad message! One of those was our old friend Devon, who lives a teenage life, and is hard to catch, but we were able to and help him prepare for baptism again! We had some awesome lessons this week with David Sr. David is such a good man, with such a willing faith and a desire to do the right thing. In a joking way, we asked him What shirt are you going to wear to Church this Sunday? He jokingly replied, Aw, you twisted my arm! Ha, Im going to come this week. He did come, and he loved it. We also had Arturo come (even though he was sick), he told us after that he really loved it. I know the Lord provided us with those miracles. It brought us such joy to be sitting beside these wonderful children of our Father in Heaven, feeling the Spirit from that amazing and sacred Sacrament Meeting. On a funny note, we taught a new member named Kenny this week. Kenny has Aspergers and just got out of a rehab center. He has the heart of gold, and loves missionaries. Its always a unique surprise going to see Kenny. This time, we brought 20 mini donut holes for an object lesson for him. For every mini donut hole, eaten or not, Elder Baughn did 10 push ups. Kenny didnt realize this, and kept eating. Finally he ate all of them. I felt bad for Elder Baughn and for Kenny. But boy was that night full of laughs! We taught another lady named Karen, shes the coolest. Jokingly, she asked us to bring tacos to the lesson. We surprised her with 3 bags full of tacos! She couldnt believe it! Finally, we nearly ate ourselves into a food coma as we had 3 dinners on Thanksgiving!! I guess youd call this a FULL week! ;) There are so many wonderful moments to recount them all, but needless to say, I am grateful with the honor I have of serving a mission. Its blessed and continues to bless my life in so many ways. For one, I am constantly changing. Never let a day go by without letting the Lord change you. Progress [truly] is happiness. As well, it is a blessing to feel the joy that comes as people change their lives for the better. As they change their lives for Christ, an incomparable joy is brought into my soul. I love Jesus Christ so much, and I am humbled to strive to serve Him every day. I love this Christmas season that we can be reminded of the real reason for the season, even the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus Christ. The legacy of love He left, the way to live He showed, and the chance to live again, He gave. O, how I love Him. What did you think of the He is the Gift video? If you havent seen it, Id highly recommend it! (Christmas.mormon.org) Its a great reminder for us all. Remember to #ShareTheGift on your social media! Let us Flood the Earth with the first Gift of Christmas! How will you share The Gift this Christmas? (pictures below) Love, with all my heart, Elder Mazankowski ... to those whom I love, I am determined to prove faithful.
