Famous people of the Bible Mr. Revival - King Hezekiah - was the son of his pagan dad Ahaz and the 14th king of Judah. His reign was between 715 and 686 BC. After his death only his Mother and Grandfather are mentioned as his relatives, why? because his dad was a terrible King and his mother an grandfather raised him to honor and fear God. After his dad Ahaz the king died he Reigns as king and led a revival to lead the people back to God just 25 years before the Babylonians captured the country and took them into captivity. After Hezekiah a few pagan kings reigned, but the writing was on the wall for Judah. Hezekiah opened back up! the Temple of God to clean it up and praise God again and one of the priests found - the book of Moses! in the Temple. Hezekiah and the priests read the book and did EXACTLY what it said to do in the law of God. - The northern 10 tribes of Israel fought against Hezekiahs dad Ahaz ( and killed him ) and hated the southern kingdom of Judah where the Temple was located in Jerusalem. But Hezekiah was a man with Gods heart and loved all, even his enemies, so God gave him power, and he invited his enemies from the north to come south to the Temple of God and also worship God there where God wanted them all to be. In the North - the 10 tribes of Smaria/Israel worshipped the famous brazen serpent that Moses raised up in the desert hundreds of years earlier ( to save people who looked at it from death ) as they went between Egypt and the promised land. God even made sure that under Hezekiahs rule that the brazen serpent was destroyed ( no easy task ) when it was honored by 10 tribes and a million or so people! Hezekiah also removed all the pagan worship centers, these were ( monkey see- monkey do ) places of pagan worship to false gods that they places on top mountains and in groves everywhere. - This is a BIG reason God had the Caananites wiped out and killed, as Israel entered the promised land. I imagine what it was like to be a priest and a Levite family whenever a pagan king ruled Israel. It had to be a terrible thing to go through. One thing for sure is; they prayed and God heard their prayers. A few more pagan kings ruled Judah before Babylon carried them into captivity. You ask, why were they carried away for 70 years to Babylon? Because God made sure that 70 Sabbath days were honored in Israel without the people occupying the area. After the 70 sabbaths, then God opened the eyes of Rulers and they let the people of Israel back in their land. Born: King Hezekiah - Jerusalem Died: 687 BC, Jerusalem Parent: pagan Ahaz Children: Manasseh of Judah
