Fancy hotels, non-stop travel, fancy clothes and a fancy title on - TopicsExpress

Fancy hotels, non-stop travel, fancy clothes and a fancy title on a business card....for what? A life in a suitcase in exchange for time with family. I had learned my own lesson. I could have spent those weekends with my family instead…but that was all in the past. I had that life for years. Dont get me wrong - It was a good learning experience and it was enjoyable while it lasted, but after a while you realize what it all was. And you make a choice to live your own life the way you deserve. I had made my choice when I registered a start-up consultancy business in 2011. My first purchase was a MacBook and a new writing notebook and blue gel pen. That start-up allows me to spend dinners with family and sleep at our bed with my husband, not in some fancy hotel. It allows me to have full control of my time and work anywhere with wifi, laptop and cellphone. My whole office is in a trolley laptop bag that I take with me anywhere. I could travel and have a vacation anytime, anywhere and still be able to work. The flexibility of schedule allows me to pursue my continuing studies. It allows me to dress up the way I want - pajamas is an option, if I want to. {No, I still dress up in my shirt and shorts or button-up pinstripe long sleeves and jeans.} The trade-off from that fancy life was huge. And the choice was not easy. Sacrifices had to made. I became more conscious on what I spend on. I always ask: Will this contribute to the growth of this business? Is it an investment to my personal growth? Forget fancy purses and clothes. Id rather spend on training courses that could add value to my work. I became conscious of the time -- am I wasting it or giving myself value? If I waste time, I am more aware how much it is worth and what I am losing (1hour = $xx = PHPxxx). That keeps me on track :) The one major benefit is less stress and a happier life. Every time I cook dinner and wait for my husband to come home at the end of the day, I know I have made the right choice...to be there at home and not catching a flight at some airport somewhere in the world. Im thankful to a husband who understood and supported me in my pursuit of a dream. Kir May thanks for sharing it. It was like reading my own blog, something I could have written myself.
