Fantastic visit from representatives of the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct for the Years 4-8 today. Justin Hygate Establishment Manager, Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct, talked through the key features of the Precinct, and construction firm Downer were on hand to show off their construction workers uniforms, explaining why it needs to be worn, and updating us on the ground works currently going on at the site. The highlight of the visit though was from Katharine Watson, and her team from Underground Overground Archaeology! After a presentation about the life of an Archaeologist, there was time for everyone to experience a real dig! The students got to dig through the dirt boxes, discovering buried broken ceramics, jars and bones! The most exciting discovery was a small inkwell, very possibly from the early days of school site itself! Have a great long weekend everyone! AC
