Far be it for me to see an Internet bandwagon and not jump on it. At least this one doesn’t involve getting water chucked at you or drinking petrol. So cheers Rachel for the book challenge nomination mine wont be anywhere near as interesting as yours. So the idea is your pick 10 books that have influenced you and write why they did. Why? Because why not. Hard to think through my friends and pick people who will have read 10 books. Anyway Quigs, Alan, Woki, Dan do it if you want. I’m not your boss. Clearly doing this because I don’t already look pretentious enough… Aye, anyway, books… 1. All My Friends Are Dead – Avery Monson. If I ever have kids this will be the book I read them. It’s a bit strange but I like strange. And lets face it I am strange. Really funny book. Love Avery Monson really funny guy. Think its for kids in fairness but I enjoyed it none the less. 2. A Requiem For a Dream – Hubert Selby Jr. really good film but book is better. Story about how addiction can manifest and take over someone’s life. Really like anything that makes you think & this book does that. 3. Return of The Time wasters Letters – Robin Cooper. For no other reason than it embarrassed me on more than one occasion when on the train to uni from laughing out loud. Probably the funniest book ever. 4. Music The Business – Anne Harrison. My bible for first two years of uni 5. Autobiography – Morrissey. Naturally. 6. How Not To Run A Club – Peter Hook. We made history, not money The bloke who owned the Hacienda. Basically the main reason I moved to Manchester. Despite it being a ugly modern car park block of flats thing by time I moved there. Day late buck short. 7. Its Not How Good You Are Its How Good You Want To Be – Paul Arden. Initially bought it to help with a marketing unit at uni but its got a lot of life lessons in it “Your vision of where or who you want to be is the greatest asset you have. Without having a goal it’s difficult to score.” 8. Silver Linings Playbook- Matthew Quick. Lovely Story. Funny and honest. Movie is just as good. 9. The Picture Of Dorian Gray – Oscar Wilde. Always over analyze this book, my old English teacher would be proud. Essentially there is more to life than being really really ridiculously good looking. I just used a quote from Zoolander to describe a Oscar Wilde book. Sorry. 10. I Can Make You Hate – Charlie Brooker. Currently reading this book at the minute. Charlie Brooker is possibly the wittiest bloke alive. Nothing better than a good old-fashioned rant. There wasn’t that a lovely waste of everyones time.
