Farewell to Justice Gertel Thom : A Special Sitting of the High Court of Justice was convened yesterday morning and presided over by Hon Justice Bruce-Lyle and Hon Justice Thom. Speeches were made by the Hon. Attorney General, Judith Jones-Morgan C.M.G, the Director of Public Prosecutions Mr. Colin Williams, President of the SVG Bar Association Hon.Rene M Baptiste C.M.G; Queens Counsel the Messrs Commissiong, Campbell and John; Mr. Arthur Williams and Ms Nicole Sylvester from the senior bar and Miss Annique Cummings of the Junior bar, who all offered their congratulations to her and her family on this crowning achievement. Justice Thom served more than 9 years as a High Court Judge here and was recently appointed a Justice of Appeal. She stated unequivocally that there is Separation of Powers in St.Vincent and the Grenadines and that there has never been any interference with the Judiciary. She praised the Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force for their exemplary treatment of her and for the service they give to her, as well as the Court staff and the Registry staff. She also thanked the Bar for the excellent co-operation given to her, making her tour of duty here fruitful and enjoyable. She was praised by the Bar for her scholarship, fairness, integrity and ethics. Justice Bruce-Lyle was also given birthday greetings
