Farrell welcomes the announcement of eleven new classrooms for primary schools in Malahide. Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has welcomed the announcement from the Department of Education that St. John Paul II National School and St. Sylvester Infants National School have been included on the Additional Accommodation list. “I am thrilled for school going families in the Malahide community. The fact that both of these primary schools are being enhanced will help to alleviate the crisis regarding primary level places in the Malahide area. St Sylvester Infants National School will be getting 7 new permanent classrooms to replace existing prefabs while St. John Paul II National School is to receive 4 new permanent classrooms to increase the school’s capacity.” “This is just part of the Government’s major investment in the local area of Malahide in response to the schooling crisis left behind for us to deal with. In addition to todays announcement, investment worth over €7m has been allocated to St Oliver Plunkett National School for a new school building; St. Andrews National School got two new classrooms in September and the new Malahide/Portmarnock Educate Together National School will be built in the community in the coming years.” “The announcement of these 11 new classrooms is very welcome news, these facilities will go a long way in reducing the stress felt by parents who are enrolling their children in primary schools in Malahide. The demand issue for primary school places is an issue which I will continue to work on in order to further reduce such problems over the coming years.” “The level of investment in education for Malahide will reduce the constraints that are currently seen in the system. I am delighted with Minister Quinns announcement and I thank him personally for listening to my repeated calls for measures to address this ongoing schooling crisis.”
