Fascinating - Morgan and I were preparing the lesson for the 6th graders when she saw the film of the Arizona exploding with a force of 90 meters per second, from a supply of 500 tons of TNT aboard her....in doing the math, that means the blast within the Arizona was ONE HALF a kiloton; the Hiroshima bomb was 12 KT. Small wonder the inside was obliterated and collapsed upon itself - everything was vaporized in an instant. But Morgan was still shocked at the films taken during the attack; her textbooks, she now agrees, do not to the scope of the attack justice. I concur. So I learned my lesson on how to deliver a lesson that will stick in peoples minds forever. First step to wisdom.
