Fascinating discussion --and time consuming. I think the highlight for me was from Eric Schmidt (Google Executive Chairman) toward the last minute of the session: the end of licensed bandwidth. The implication is that there will be so many more ways to transport content (i.e. signals) that bandwidth will become meaningless. Signals will be ubiquitous --like conversation. Sheryl Sandberg, FB Chief Operating, offered the clincher. Noting that 60% of content on the Internet is in English, she offered the vision of something transcoder-like in natural language that might make people able to share thoughts unhindered by differences in language. Vittorio Colao, Chief Executive of Vodafone, contributed most in terms of describing the emerging communications fabric in all its many complex warp and woofs as his organization is literally the last mile between everyone and and Internet of Everything.
