Fascinating thing about Ebola situation to me. There is numerous, scientifically driven, ethical coverage which emphasizes repeatedly that there is no real risk at all to Americans in the USA. But some people seem desperate to find any way possible to ignore this reporting, and focus instead on fringe, nonsensical, unvetted fear based, click bait sensationalism. Which fits my evolving hypothesis that people have a biological expectation/need to experience fear, and in our modern, ridiculously safe, fairly care free Western society, they must satiate this biological fear with irrational hysteria. When irrational fear of Ebola stops satisfying this need to be afraid (as did eventually SARS, the knockout game, invading Muslim hordes, Fukushima, chupacabras) theyll just move onto the next thing. A constant search for deadly fear in a world where they are almost certainly going to die old of heart disease, stroke, or cancer.
