Father God, As the new year is less than an hour away from beginning here in Evergreen, Alabama, it is a wonderful time to reflect on Your holiness and faithfulness. Throughout 2014, in the midst of every circumstance, You have been perfectly faithful. Even in the many times in which I have failed You, You have not failed me. You truly have been a friend who sticketh closer than a brother. You have been my confidant in every need, and You have been my port in every storm. What You have said that You will do, You have done, for You can do no less. Your standards have remained the same. Your truth has remained the same for all of eternity, and it will remain the same for all of eternity, including 2015. And so as 2015 soon begins for many of us in less than an hour, may we, by Your grace, choose to turn our eyes toward You and away from ourselves. May we determine in our hearts that we will cast our eyes upon You as the centerpiece of our lives. May we determine in our hearts that we will choose to live by Your truth and not by our own version of what we deem to be right and wrong. May we determine that we will surrender each and every day to You so that whether we be at home, in the workplace, in the grocery store, on the interstate as we drive, at school, or at church, we will offer every second to You as a love offering to You. May we choose to worship You in our obedience. May we choose to love You in our obedience. May we choose to exalt You in our obedience. May we be a people once again who are passionate about walking faithfully and obediently in Your will and in Your way. And Father, when were tempted to complain in anger about the circumstances of our lives, whatever they may be, may we choose to give You thanks and to recognize that even the worst of storms are used by You to transform us into the image of Jesus. May the world around us look at us and recognize us as a peculiar people. May they see us as having the peace that is beyond understanding. May the world see more and more in 2015 that the body of Christ is passionately in love with You. And may that love flow from the sweet and intimate relationship with You that can only come through the work of Christ. And it is in that Name of Christ our Lord that we pray. Amen.
