***Favorite Drummers Continued*** Tonight I feature a Drummer and a songwriter thats gone waaaaaaaaaaay too soon. This one still breaks my heart. Hes not a guy I knew or that any of my other drumming friends knew... however, almost everyone I talk to feels as if they knew The Rev. Jimmy Sullivan. Wow.... his playing was off the hook. In my opinion, he was the heir to the Mike Portnoy throne. Much like Portnoy, Rev was a brilliant songwriter. In fact, I think hes superior to Portnoy as a songwritier. Some of Avenged Sevenfolds greatest songs were Rev creations... Almost Easy... Nightmare.... and the lyrically haunting Afterlife. As far as finding a drum solo from him, youll never find one. The guy never did them. He did enough lead-ins and fills during songs that for whatever reason, he just didnt do them. So instead of a killer solo, you get to learn a little about him in 3 seperate clips. Enjoy #1.
