Faysal Quassem I usually do not see eye to eye with this - TopicsExpress

Faysal Quassem I usually do not see eye to eye with this brilliant Syrian journalist, the number of followers of whom have exceeded 10 million. I challenged and countered some of his tweets or statuses. He never answered! For obvious reasons! It is like if I am complaining that Shakira did not answer my Facebook message! When the Abou Ghraib degrading photos have surfaced in the US press (traitors???), the whole world attacked and criticized in the most vivid, uncompromising and even insulting terms the behavior of the US Army intelligence. Arab journalists, European and US ones. the US Army did not collapse and its moral was restored through a public trial of the responsible persons. Accountability and redemption were the first answer rather than fake and clownist patriotism. The second answer was public debate over what happened in Abou Ghraib. Faysal Quassems undeniably humiliating tweet was provoked by certain pictures that have stripped humanity from humans. As a journalist, he should have waited for the results of a thorough fact finding that many Lebanese have initiated in order to assess what really happened in the Syrian refugees camp in Ersal. His tweet has stirred the anger of soldiers and Lebanese and has inflated the level of justified paranoia of some and unjustified racism of others. However, the counter campaign orchestrated by the Army Lovers was sickening and nauseous. I have not read one single rational answering Quassems frustration at the sight of his compatriots being humiliated. I came across insults, hate and stupidity mostly. To the ones who are so repelled by the stupid tweet of Quassem, what would you have written or what have you written already and for many years describing houmat el diyar (The Syrian Army)? Do you remember the jokes made in Lebanon addressing the Egyptian Army? If you believe in the Lebanese Army and you are Army Lovers, these are the options open for your picking: 1. Enroll in the Army. 2. Demand that the Army does not share military monopole given by the constitution with any non governmental security apparatus, particularly with a fundamentalist military group that answers Iran. 3. Demand accountability. And stop your Don Quichotism
