Fear of an uncertain future and grief over a painful past are the - TopicsExpress

Fear of an uncertain future and grief over a painful past are the two of the most present emotional conditions that plague the human psyche. Sadness over the past and fear of what the future may bring are two natural states that do not necessarily contradict faith. They are built into us, and should be kept in check by knowing that Allah (swt) does not burden a soul more than it can bear, and trusting that Allah (swt) has a precise and perfect plan for us. But even then, the emotions still exist. This world causes us to continuously journey towards stations of happiness, but even when we arrive at these stations, there are always memories of sadness or fears of future troubles quietly burning within us. Our lives in this world will never be free from fear or sadness. The thing is, when you arrive at the final and greatest station of happiness, paradise, fear and grief will no longer be emotions that exist within us… Allah (swt) describes Jannah as being a place where believers will not fear nor grieve. From the start of the human existence, these “emotional” rewards of paradise have been present. When Adam and Hawa were expelled from paradise, Allah (swt) said: “Go down from it, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve” (2:38). Allah (swt) mentions the reward for the believers of “no grief and no fear” 53 times in the Quran...those who believe in the Quran, who submit themselves wholly to Allah, who are firm on the path, who follow the signs of the messengers He sends, who establish prayer and deeds of righteousness, who spend publicly and privately from their wealth…on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. When we think about the rewards of paradise, our minds automatically go to the tangible, physical rewards that can be seen, tasted, and touched – gardens, fruits, rivers of honey and milk and wine, beautifully adorned homes, clothes of silk and more. And these rewards are beautiful and enticing and fill our senses with anticipation. But we shouldnt forget the other side of the coin – the reward of never having to feel fear or grief again. The reward of satisfaction, peace, eternal bliss and reunification with the righteous of your family, friends and the prophets and martyrs. The reward that is felt – not just seen or tasted or touched. And that is the Majesty of Allah (swt) in that all His rewards, as beyond our imaginations as they are, coincide with our every possible need and desire. Many of us desire, more than anything else, to not have to grieve anymore, to not have to fear anymore. So know that your grief and fear are not unknown to Allah (swt). He knows that which plagues your heart of sadness, and that which makes you fearful of the future. And He is telling you, again and again, to strive for His sake, to believe in Him alone and to follow the path He has outlined. And He will, in turn, enter you into paradise, which is as vast as all the heavens and the earth. And there, no fear shall be on you ever again…nor shall you grieve. Admin Zil ali :)
