Featured PLHC project of the week: The PLHC was recently awarded a grant from the National Park Service’s 2014 Japanese American Confinement Sites Grant Program for its upcoming history, interpretation, and education project on New Mexico’s World War II Japanese American confinement sites. Dr. Sarah Payne and the PLHC will coordinate with the New Mexico Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) and other project partners including the State Historian of New Mexico, University of New Mexico Asian Studies, City of Lordsburg, Fort Stanton Inc., the Museum of New Mexico’s Department of Cultural Affairs, DENSHO, and a number of individual volunteers to implement the plans made during the first phase of this project (2011-2012).
