Federal data show that black girls also are disproportionately - TopicsExpress

Federal data show that black girls also are disproportionately subjected to harsh disciplinary tactics when compared with white girls for the same offense. CPS quietly posted new suspension and expulsion data for the 2013-2014 school year but does not provide a breakdown by race and gender. However, state 2012-2013 data show that 30 percent of CPS students who were suspended at least once are black girls, though they make up only about 20 percent of CPS students. Interestingly, the number of black girls suspended at least once in high school is about the same as the number of black boys. catalyst-chicago.org/notebook/2014/12/11/66244/take-5-new-discipline-data-dfer-endorse-aldermen-and-computer-science
