Federer declares US Open ambition at MOET & CHANDON celebration: Roger Federer toasted 270 years of Moët & Chandon on Tuesday night at a celebration in New York. The Swiss, who is a Global Brand Ambassador, was the guest of honour at Chelsea Piers. Also in attendance were Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, DJ Bob Sinclair, singer Emeli Sandé and actors Katrina Bowden, Jeffrey Wright, Josh Lucas and Anthony Mackie. “It is a big deal for [me] and Moet & Chandon,” said Federer. “I’m the Global Brand Ambassador for them, so it’s an exciting night here tonight to celebrate 270 years.” The 32-year-old Federer is in New York preparing for his bid to win a sixth US Open title. The Swiss is looking to emerge from a difficult run of form to clinch his 18th Grand Slam championship. “One thing’s for sure, I‘ll give everything I have,” said Federer. “As usual, I’m excited to be back in New York and I hope it is going to be a good trip for me. I feel good, I feel confident, so we’ll see how it goes.” Federer added that he is joined in New York by his wife, Mirka, and their four-year-old twin daughters, Charlene Riva and Myla Rose. “Clearly family is the most important thing in life,” said the Basel native. “My wife has been incredibly supportive throughout and she’s always the backbone. It’s been great with her, and the family is here too. We’re all very happy to be back in New York and enjoying our time, not just on the court, but clearly also away from it. But I am very focused on making sure I do well on the tennis court first. I’ve had enough vacation this year, I need to make sure I practise and get back to the old form again.”
