Feedback with regards to CPA Youth Parliament: The set time for the 3rd CPA Africa Region Youth parliament is 24-28 August 2014 in Zambia. Deliberations will take place within parliamentary chambers and all MPs will be housed in the parliaments hotel for MPs and other VIPs. Upon our last discussions we asked that training be shortened as most MPs have been through the process last year.This should happen on day 1 and then there is a possibility of a small tour afterwards. Debate will officially start on day 2, after new members have been sworn in. (As it currently stands I myself cannot attend the meeting as I am unable to obtain leave from class. I can get permission to be excused from formal lectures, but cannot miss 16 hours of comprehensive patient care and dental work. This is a very sad disappointing occurrence, but unfortunately I cannot move these sessions as my clinical roster does not allow it.) THUS the deputy speaker will step up in my place and a new Deputy will be elected. If hon Martey cannot attend either the process will start again as last year. Then the members such as the Seychelles delegation who suffered from supposed by-elections will not be able to attend. Hon Martey and I attended various meetings and spoke to various people from Zambia and the CPA secretariat. Official invitation letters requested that the same members be sent as the term of office is 2 years, but it remains within the jurisdiction of each individual country to decide who they choose. However, very unfortunate nothing can be done about this fact. Hence, it is advised that members of the Youth parliament amend the standing rules and orders in such a way that members will not experience this again in future years. All new members, being sworn in this year, will only serve for one year as they replace their precursors and parliament will be dissoved sine die on 28 August 2014
