Feel like I was hustled by American Hustle. Great cast and acting; the story, not so much. I mean who was hustling whom? The FBI hustle a couple of hustlers into hustling others -- but it mostly doesnt pay off. The political hustle -- ABSCAM, on which the movie is sort of based -- takes five minutes in a series of vignettes. The hustle of the mob doesnt pay off (Robert de Niro has a great turn as a mobster though). The hustle of the New Jersey mayor? Well, he had good intentions and is all but let off at the end of the movie. I liked him, and think I was supposed to. The hustlers hustle the FBI, but thats the last 10 minutes of the movie. A short hustle at the end of a long movie. Maybe its just me, but the story just didnt grab me. I guess I got hustled by all the hype about the movie.
