Feel the Magic ‘Snowy’ Day was a kid when I was stationed in - TopicsExpress

Feel the Magic ‘Snowy’ Day was a kid when I was stationed in Lameroo – through Facebook he contacted me. His wife had lost her battle and he had been left with grief and two young daughters. He and loyal supporters organised a fund raiser for the Feel the Magic – feelthemagic.org.au and I was invited as auctioneer. It was my first ‘hit out’ after getting crook and my operation. It was a good fun and at times ‘very moving’ evening. Snowy’s young daughters got up and spoke about their grief – one of the most courageous things I’ve seen. Feel the Magic raises funds for families that have lost a love one. They send young families to Disneyland to help with the grieving process. I got talking to a lady at the next table and quickly realised that every lady at her table had lost their husbands at young ages. That blew me away as I scanned around looking at their faces. Her husband passed un-expectantly aged 46. Their life, with their 2 young daughters, was rolling along and then, in an instant, he was gone. She had found this ‘grief group’ and found it to be a great help. It was for people under 50 – all into the same boat. Her husband died 11months ago and she said it has been ‘tough’ and ‘lonely’ but she was determined to raise her girls the right way. On the drive home to Victor I reflected on my night’s performance. It was ok but only just – tried a bit too hard – but then that lady came into thought and I could not get her out of my mind. She had been landed a ‘haymaker’ but she was making the best of her lot. Thank God that people find groups that share the same fate. Anyway, Feel the Magic is a most worthwhile cause and well done to Snowy and his band of warriors.
