Feeling a bit contemplative today..lots going on for me. I was picking up one of my meds yesterday ( azathioprine..and immunosuppressant) and bumped into an old aquaintance from my days working in restaurants. He had a happy sad story for me. On a good note , after being given 6 months to live (cancer) he underwent stem cell transplant. 18 months later nothing can be found !! Then he told me about a young man , mid 30s, that i had worked with who had just passed away from liver cancer..after having several tumors removed from his bowel. It made me think about my own chronic illness (severe Crohns Disease) and how it does affect both mental and physical wellness. I do suffer from bouts of depression, being very limited to what i can and cannot do that a lot of people take for granted. Needing a bathroom 20+ times a day (pre-surgery) just plain sucks !! My meds help a great deal , but they are no cure and there are many additional compications associated with it. Having said that, I continually meet people who amaze me with their strength, when confronted with adversity. To them I say thankyou..it does rub off and helps me get thru the day. cheers to all
