Feeling very :( right now! Our girls are a few weeks off turning 6 months, and I was starting to feel pretty smug that they were going to make it to getting spayed without any hassles! How wrong I was!! Yesterday (Monday) Sugar started to assert her dominance over Toffee, a bit of mounting and some chasing round the garden! They came into the side passage where theyre sleeping and with careful watching they seemed fine, phew! Today I phoned our vet and thankfully the very rabbit savvy vet answered the phone, I had a really good chat with her and theyre booked in next Tuesday for their op and on her advice after seeing the dominant behaviour continue even inside we have now seperated them :( I feel devastated for them as theyve never been apart but the risk of them starting to fight was just too much to risk! Im now feeling guilty for splitting them up, anxious for their impending ops plus their continued separation and then having to re-bond them once theyve recovered and have got their hormone levels sorted! I wish wed waited for the rescue near us to have had an older bonded pair but I woulnt be without our girls either.
