Fellas, Im going to ask you to avert your eyes here. Ive got something to say to my girlfriends and its delicate stuff, something we just dont talk about. One of my nearest and dearest has just come back from her Chinese medicine man and I believe he has changed her life. I know hes changed mine! Women, aged about 55 and under - including young otherwise healthy women - are undergoing widespread troubles with their menstrual cycles. Guys, dont say I didnt warn you... Its become the norm to have women needing time off from work to deal with the extreme pain and yes, the near-haemorrhaging that occurs to us each month. Whats happened? Are we just wimps in the evolutionary chain of women whove gone before us? Our medicine man says no - were simply the first generations to have grown up with tampons and theyre to blame. While most packages warn of toxic shock syndrome, they dont tell us about the milder poisoning were putting ourselves through every three weeks. By the time our bodies have dealt a blow to the toxicity of our tampons, the chemicals and bleach in the product, along with the rotting biological matter in the rest of it, were hardly ready to start the whole thing over and over again. Never mind that severe mood swings and depression are the two front runners in our cyclical side effects, womens whole health, mind and body, are hanging in the balance here. Commonly, our doctors put us on birth control pills to control these side effects. Next, the anti-depressants. Just what we need! More foreign substances to put us out of whack and make us question our sanity and our self-worth. Just out of interest, I swore off tampons for a month. Within days, I was back to normal. Its just that simple. Somebody needs to talk about this, to share this with our sisters... I guess its starting with me.
