Fellow Pine Mountain Trail hikers....BE BOLD.....How?...Ok say you are coming out off the trails late of a day and meet up with folks hiking IN....Stopem and talk with them, ask where they are going and if they have a map, flashlight etc (likely wont have anything but a water bottle and a cell phone.) Remind them of the time and how soon it will be dark and REALLY help them out by discouraging them to say try to hike to Cascade Falls and back NO LATER than 3pm this time of year.... IF they want to continue on ask where they are parked and what kind of vehicle....If they ask why, tell them that you plan on call the park rangers to let them know and be on the look out for them to come out later than sunset.....Likely they will at that point turn around and follow you on out. If they dont, CALL the park emergency number and report them. PS...If you see/meet backpackers come in just at sunset report them too. Likely they dont have a permit and walking slower could lead to them getting lost.
