Fellow Ugandans please note that some of us in UDU and other facilities like The Hague Process for peace; security and development in Uganda have dedicated the balance of our lives to lay a solid foundation for a secure; dignified; equal; happy and prosperous Uganda for everyone. I want people to know that when we talk about equality we dont mean that all Ugandans will drive the same car model; live in luxury. We also dont mean that those who earn their income legitimately will be heavily taxed to meet the basic needs of others. What we mean is that every Ugandan should be given an equal opportunity to go to school; eat adequate food; get adequate medical care and live in a suitable house. That way the playing field is level. If an individual does not develop his or her talents then the fault lies not with the environment but individual. What we plan to do in post-NRM govt is to establish a social protection program and conditional cash transfers to those that are trapped below the poverty line to help them get out of poverty. This is a concrete proposal. UDU is the only organization that has given concrete proposals about what to do in post-NRM regime. We are prepared to work with others that meet certain conditions especially the character of their leaders. Anyone alleged have blood on their hands; preaches use of military means to effect regime change and supports secession will not be welcome. Social behavior including excessive drinking; extramarital relations and accepting bribes will also not be welcome. We need leaders with discipline and impeccable character. Let me have your views.
