Fellow artists, thought I would let you know of a bad experience I recently had with Firenze Products in Miami. I called to order a product from them that I had not previously used. I told them that I wanted to do a finish just like the sample in their catalog. They first said, well, thats just a sample. Its not really going to look like that on a large scale. Oh? So I asked them what process should be used to get as close as possible. Each time I called I was put on hold forever. 3 different people in the company gave me three different answers. Then I told them how much square footage we needed to cover. Again, 3 different people gave me 3 different answers. And to top it all off, they said that you have to buy it in a kit, which includes primer, plaster and sealer. I said I didnt need sealer could they subtract that from my price. They said no. So I ordered the product tinted to one of their custom colors. It arrived a couple days later and we applied the primer. I didnt think the color was right so I called Firenze. Elliot, the technical person said, dont worry, it will dry lighter. I asked if he was sure and he said he looked at the sample that he had in the warehouse and yes it was right. I was feeling pretty uneasy since I kept getting conflicting info from the company. About 1/2 hour later he called me back and said he was wrong. He decided to blow dry a sample of what he sent us and said he agreed it was not right. He started hemming and hawing about solutions. He said maybe we could correct the color if he made up some more tint for us. I didnt trust him and time was of the essence on this job, so I asked him to overnight me a new batch of primer and plaster. (By the way, they never sent the free sealer.) I asked for some compensation for having wasted nearly a full day, aggravating the client and the designer and he said he would think about it and get back to me. The new product arrived the next day and the color was much better. I sent him back the old stuff. A week later I called to see what kind of credit they were going to offer. He was apparently unable to personally come to the phone but let his receptionist pass along his message. Nope. Thats it. No discount, no credit. Getting you the correct product was sufficient remuneration. To which I replied. .... please let him know that we will never use or recommend your company again and I will let everyone know how bad your color matching is, as well as how sloppy your technical and ordering departments are. Honestly, if your job is to sell product tinted to specific colors and you dont do that well..... why bother?
