Fellow outdoorsmen/women, please help! Please do your best to forward and post this information on all social media forums. We, as the public, must make a public stand against the use of gill nets in river for any purpose. Indiscriminate in river harvesting with a gill net is not a viable subsistence harvest method in a drainage that already has species listed as a stock of concern. These nets will target and indiscriminately kill King Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Silver Salmon, Pink Salmon, and Sockeye Salmon. The 10 fathom (60ft) subsistence gill nets have been permitted for multiple areas of the lower, middle, and upper stretches of the Kenai River. For all of you that have been emailing, calling, and texting regarding the new federal implementation of subsistence gill netting in the Kenai River, here are our Alaska Senator/Representatives contact information. PLEASE fill out info requested and voice your opinion. It is important to note that this federal decision was made in contradiction to ADFG biologists and fishery managers recommendation!
