(Fellowship Post-Doctoral) International Scholar Exchange Fellowship for the year 2015-2016 Purpose The purpose of the International Scholar Exchange Fellowship program is to enhance international exchange and cooperation in promoting mutual understanding and academic advancement among various cultural groups. To this end, the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies supports academically qualified scholars who wish to carry out advanced research at leading universities or research institutions in Korea. Eligible Applicants - University faculty members and institution researchers from countries in Asia and the Middle East with a doctoral degree - All applicants, in principle, must be 50 years old or less. Those not eligible: - Persons already researching in Korea - Persons whose prime interest is to teach in Korea Applicants should be able to carry out research either in Eng - lish or Korean, and they should have no disqualifying health problems to conduct research. Research Period 1 Year - from 2015.9.1 6 Months - from 2015.9.1 - from 2016.3.1 Application Materials 1) Application form (online application) 2) Statement of proposed activity 3) Two letters of recommendation 4) Certificate of employment 5) Typical research performance: 2 books, or 2 research papers, or 1 book and 1 research paper (an abstract in English within 300 words must be submitted for each book or research paper) 6) Letter of research affiliation from the host institution in Korea(if available at the time of application) Selection 1) Initial screening according to field: Preliminary selection by the screening panel consisting of scholars in the field of the applicants expertise. 2) Comprehensive screening: Final decision through comprehensive screening by the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies Steering Committee. Inter - views may be arranged if necessary. Application Deadline -February 25, 2015 -The stated deadline is the final date that all materials must reach KFAS by. In case of submitting materials to Asia Research Centers, deadlines may vary according to institu - tion so please contact your ARC to find out. -Announcement of results: March 31, 2015 Details of Financial Support Research Grant - 2,500,000 KRW per month(approximately USD 2,300) - 1,000,000 KRW after successfully submitting the final research paper at the end of the fellowship period The fellowship is valid only to those who enter Korea within one month from the recommended date of entry suggested by the Foundation. Publication Incentives - $5,000 for an article published in an accredited journal (SSCI, AHCI, SCI) - $3,000 for an article published in a domestic journal (in the fellows own country) equal in recognition to those registered at the National Research Foundation of Korea Within two years from the date of the fellows return to his/her country, the incentives are provided for papers indicating that the research was funded by the ISEF program of KFAS.
