Ferguson is a tragic perennial copy of distortion of what is American value. Michael Brown was a teenage thug and put himself in harms way by his behavior. Darren Wilson is a young man overly confused by situational responsibility, response expectations and a cultural backwater of passive rejection of all that much of the rest of America has accepted as appropriate and diligent to our Constitutional and social demands for equity and constant change. What has followed has gone the way of unproductive stereotypical responses across the spectrum of Americas view of itself by examples of choices made by both sides of the issues at play. Its a well-practiced, poorly devised script which each side follows line by line. The matter of continual repetitive events whatever color or life-style is legally judged by those responsible to say it fits, or not, within the Constitutions framework. Too often that laziness what fits the roles each plays equates to denial of the reality and need for recognizing change isnt a politically correct demand, it is a fact of every aspect of our lives and relationships with each other. Whether or not we choose to accept it is another matter with its own consequences. Rejection equated to an ethical and personal laziness to reject our ability to grow, to step outside our ideological models of self righteousness and pride in what has no justification in fact or moral responsibility. The reality is that the scenario isnt confined to color, gender choice or faith. The ugliness rises in the soul from a darkness within each of us to rely on the prejudice, i.e. perceptions and lessons from our experience, and how it is filtered through the environmental and intellectual truth of our strength of character and participative learning more about ourselves. The distortions of that happens too often with little ability to separate authenticity from insecurity and paranoia, as well as the spiritual context and relationship with the world around you as well as God Himself. The predictable story line goes something like this - 1) an event occurs that causes death or inappropriate level of response from each player, with the personalities involved, without regard for adequate cultural learning, tech training or assessment of how to defuse any threat posed, rightly or wrongly. 2) Citizens representing the sides immediately take a mostly uninformed and knee jerk reaction 3) a predictable spokesperson or catalyst group comes to the media to complain of what has yet to be determined facts and responsible behavior, technically legal or not (though the event itself often DOES represent poor choices by both parties, 4) the broader media comes to town most often using their own hunger for spectacular copy and sound bites than responsible journalistic reportage and then the grinders (talk show bozos) take sides and level their firepower in a Chicken Little view of the situation, 5 ) the politicians and judicial perspective presents again a predictable show time attempt to appear free of shading their investigations of the event as if the rest of the public isnt involved in persuasive conditional influence. 6) THEN, when juries, grand, petit or civil conclude their work, we lose all sense of perspective and propriety on both sides as if public opinion drove character and perspicacity if it didnt come out the way WE wanted without regard for the process or its link to the culture of the community itself. Nothing changes when we lack the initiative and character to seriously recognize our perception of what we expect from a Constitutionally and morally informed need to grow and God Forbid consider changing how we view our own perception as well as any community and national priorities for equity, clear thought and fairness.... As Einstein stated, Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and Im not sure about the former. Then we hear the thud and breath of a national sense of... UUGGGGGHHHHHH....
