Ferguson on “Thanks For Giving”... So here we are, as a country, on one of our most joyous holidays, a nation torn. Not so much by an enemy without, but by an enemy within. An enemy that has refused to heal, to correct itself or go away. One that has existed for generations and now, threatens more chaos and destruction. Born of class envy, graduated to class warfare, now accompanied with calls for anarchy. The rule of law trampled upon, our Constitution torn asunder, the very nation under siege. Civil rights have been replaced by uncivil actions. Property rights have been traded for a free bottle of booze, a television set or just the thrill of harming a fellow citizen. Reckless abandon for the joy of doing harm. Since November 6, 2008, “healing time” has not been allowed. It has been one unprecedented challenge to our nation after the next during a time when the only actual and real tragedy occurred on 9/1/2001. This has been by design. The plan has been to “divide and conquer” in their never ending political quest for power and dominance. The intent has been to ignite an “American Spring” right here in the homeland, a necessary step in their quest for socialism. No matter the evidence, no matter the intent, no matter the circumstance or facts. Hatred, targeted violence and greed all rolled into one, with no evidence of moral fiber whatsoever. And so, now, as a nation, we bleed. Our flag hangs limp and battered, stained by the actions of a few, trampled upon by their ignorance. So many of the great ones come to mind... Dr. Martin Luther King, Percy Julian, Hank Aaron, Sam Lacy, Rosa Parks, Bessie Coleman, Satchel Paige, Marian Anderson, Boss Reeves, Doris Miller, Joe Louis, Harriett Tubman, Langston Hughes, Thurgood Marshall, William Hastie, Elijah McCoy, Jan Matzelliger, Lewis Latimer, Fred Jones, Lloyd Hall, Charles Drew, George Washington Carver, to name but a few. Perhaps the achievements of one could be brought to mind: Benjamin O. Davis Jr., (The first Black Air Force General who led the Tuskegee Airmen flight squadron, standing up to the military establishment in advancing the cause of Black soldiers. More than that, he remains a symbol of the ability of a Black man to persevere through obstacles on the path toward excellence.) And so it is that we stand here today...a nation of whites who have failed to acknowledge, appreciate and educate on the virtues of many of their own, and a nation of blacks who have allowed themselves to settle for less. The curse of social welfare has forced this segment of our populace to settle for mandated mediocrity while the society in general has allowed it to be so. It is time our nation join together to recognize our combined heritage, eradicate this blight of ignorance while defining the legacy we capable of achieving together. As a nation, we have no choice but “...to persevere through obstacles on the path toward excellence.” TP
