Ferocious bear attack: Protestors blocked road after the death of a labour =>A massive protest rocked North Kashmir’s Bandipora against the District administration and Wild Life Department after the news came about the death of a youth who was mauled along with his other colleagues by ferocious bears few days before at ChittayBanday Argam. Meanwhile at the same place a wild bear mauled an elderly person when he was returning home after morning prayers. Pertinently, a few days ago four labours were left half dead by a herd of ferocious bears who were later on shifted to Soura Medical Institute Srinagar. One of them namely Bashir Ahmed Qureshi succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning. As soon as the dead body of Bashir Ahmed reached to his native village, hundreds of people came on roads and raised anti-government and anti-Wild Life Department slogans. “The inhabitants had already informed about the presence of wild animals in the area but no attention was paid in this regard. No measures are being taken to tame these ferocious wild animals,” one of the protestors Ashiq Hussain told CNS. The protestors kept the dead body on road for hours as a result the traffic came to standstill for hours. It was only after the arrival of Additional Deputy Commissioner and Tehsildar Bandipora that protestors dispersed peacefully. Both the officers assured the protestors that strict measures would be taken to curb the movement of the wild animals in the area. “We have directed authorities to shoot these ferocious animals wherever they are sighted. Human life is precious and all measures would be taken to eliminate these beasts,” ADC, Bandipora told CNS. Meanwhile, a ferocious bear injured an elderly person critically at Chitaybandi Argam when he was returning home after offering morning prayers on Tuesday. The man was rushed to nearby hospital in critical condition. He has been identified as Khan Mohammad son of Mohammad Faqir. (CNS)
