Festival days serve two purposes: 1. To celebrate life in the company of our dear ones 2. To get into an introspective mode and look within seeking answers for some fundamental questions that concern us. While I stand with all who are expressing wishes today for peace and happiness. I would seek to focus on the second purpose. Especially when the world is ridden with conflicts everywhere in India or Middle East or in the West. Can people get into a little introspective mode and see what their answers are for the following questions: 1. Do I consider my God as the only ultimate God? 2. Do I consider that my religion is the only true religion? Is it the only valid way to reach God? 3. Is my prophet either, the only or the final prophet? Is his/her words final? 4. Do I consider my holy book as the only final authority for all? 5. Do I think it is my ordained duty to get more noumber of people believe in my God rather than allowing them to continue their belief in their god. 6. Does my religion acknowledge that spiritual experience supersedes scriptural authority? There could be many more such questions that one needs to introspect on, but these are a minimum few. Perhaps, dwelling on these questions would bring more peace and happiness in the world rather than just superficial lip service.
