Fetish is a fairly loaded word. Everyone defines it differently, sometimes in concrete ways or in abstract ways...just like the word gorgeous! This Thursday night, for just $5, get tied up in Evoco, a performance artwork by Midori that explores all the possibilities and meanings of FETISH. Evoco will erode and generate boundaries in equal measure, combining flowers, rope, flesh and ink to transform a moving body into a series of restrained sculptures and residual prints. Audience members will be invited to respond to this arrestingly beautiful and one-of-a-kind event by creating artwork with provided materials. The evening also includes a gallery talk by curator Jeff Durham, titled Gold Rush: The Aura of an Ore as a part of the Gorgeous Idea talk series. TopCoat Nail Studio will be on site, adorning nails with fresh designs inspired by the stunning artwork in the Gorgeous exhibition (which, by the way, closes very soon). Music, along with a cash bar, will loosen us up as we take our understandings of “fetish” to an all new level. Please be advised that this event features performances that may include nudity.
