Few Patriot missile crews do live-fire training as most exercises - TopicsExpress

Few Patriot missile crews do live-fire training as most exercises are simulated using digital technology that enables crews to train as they fight without firing missiles. On Dec. 8, A Battery, 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery conducted a deployment readiness exercise (DRE). It validated the batterys ability to rapidly deploy on a moments notice and ultimately conduct a Patriot missile live-fire. The DRE took the battery from Fort Sill to McGregor Range, N.M., where they preformed 96 hours of live-fire exercises. Once at the range, the crew established their Patriot missile site, performed a series of system checkouts and tests to ensure equipment readiness, and fired missiles. I have a lot of new Soldiers, so for them to see their equipment that they maintain and train on firing a missile will give them the confidence they need to accomplish their mission, said Capt. Jessica Perales, battery commander. Full story: army.mil/article/141261/ 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade
